Higgins Invitational Scramble

Twice a year, Jim Higgins puts together foursomes of players, mostly members of the DLB Senior Men’s Golf Club, who like to play on Wednesdays at the larger courses at Mile Square, The Classic and the Players Courses.  Team Captains having the lowest handicaps are chosen from those who have indicated that they are interested in competing in the Scramble format tournament.  Each Captain then selects players with handicaps that balance their teams to roughly equal the handicaps of the other competing teams.  Players pitch in $5 for prizes for the First Place Team and for two Closest-to-the-Pin holes.  Trophies were hand made by club member and club champion, Ben Schierer who passed away after a valiant fight with cancer just prior to the July Tournament.   Future Mile Square, Jim Higgins organized Scramble Tournaments will be named the “Ben Schierer Memorial Tournament.”  Below are pictures from the most recent Tournament.
